If the discussion forum is absent or appears inactive (greyed out or unclickable) on your clients' dashboards or your own coach dashboard, it indicates that the group is a "Private group."

Private groups do not come with discussion forums since it's meant for just 1 client.

Here's how it would look like when the discussion forum is disabled:

You'll see the group on the left lacks a Discussion forum. This indicates it was set as a private group. On the other hand, the group on the right features an enabled Discussion forum.

Should you set your group to private?

The answer depends on whether you are working with several clients or just 1 client.

If the group you are setting up is for several clients who are part of your live group coaching program, then there's really no reason to set it as a private group. Otherwise, they won't be able to see each other. They won't be able to see and comments on each other's check-ins, and journals, or start discussion threads.

As a coach, you also won't be able to run contests, or enable collaborations since these features will be disabled once you have set the group to private.

But if the group you are setting up is meant for a private one-on-one client, then go ahead and set it as a private group. Follow these steps:

Step 1. Click the "Edit" link to edit the group settings.

Step 2. Then check the box next to "Private Group" and click the "Save" button.
